10 FOR 10 Challenge – Pollinator Pioneers Apiary Visit

As part of the 10 for 10 challenge across 2023, Priavo Security is raising money for charities and good causes. Our chosen charity for June is the Pollinator Pioneers.

We will be sponsoring educational workshops and Apiary visits for Oak Grove college students. In these sessions, pupils learn about pollinator conservation and participate in a live ‘Meet The Bees’ Apiary inspection.

Priavo Security is celebrating its 10th year of operation this year. As we are committed to supporting people’s fundamental right to feel protected at all times, our celebrations will centre around safeguarding vulnerable groups in our community. Our team will undertake ten months’ worth of fundraising events and challenges. Collectively we will donate towards and support our ten chosen charities covering military, conservation, and local community causes.

Who is Pollinator Pioneers?

Pollinator Pioneers C.I.C is a unique environmental enterprise, headed up by our MD and Co-Founder Celine Murphy. The main purpose is to support ecological systems, increase the pollinator footprint locally and champion ocean conservation to strengthen biodiversity. Their team consists of 16 dedicated volunteer beekeepers (and growing), one experienced master beekeeper and an apiarist project manager. As a CIC, they exist purely to benefit the local environment, with all profits invested directly back into the community. The Pioneers provide a variety of workshops in collaboration with local schools; building bug hotels, seed bombing, painting hives, building planters and re-wilding the local environment to create pollinator forage.

Who is Oak Grove?

Oak Grove is a community generic school providing special education for students with a variety of learning difficulties ranging from Year 7 to Year 14. The teaching team believe strongly in developing the skills, confidence and aspirations of the wider community to provide the very best for all their pupils once they leave the college. The students were amazing, considering this was their first visit to an apiary. The Pioneers have already put two of the students forward for next year’s 6-month mentored beekeeping course.
