10 FOR 10 Challenge – Turning Tides
As part of the 10 for 10 challenge across 2023, Priavo Security is raising money for charities and good causes. Our chosen charity for September is the Turning Tides.
Priavo Security is celebrating its 10th year of operation this year. As we are committed to supporting people’s fundamental right to feel protected at all times, our celebrations will centre around safeguarding vulnerable groups in our community. Our team will undertake ten months’ worth of fundraising events and challenges. Collectively we will donate towards and support our ten chosen charities covering military, conservation, and local community causes.
Who are Turning Tides?
Turning Tides is the largest provider of homeless services for single people throughout West Sussex. For 30 years, Turning Tides has supported thousands of rough sleepers and homeless adults throughout West Sussex. The charity runs over 35 projects across the county, ranging from drop-in Community Hubs to residential and outreach teams. Their services offer a wide range of specialist support in mental health, housing, social care, employment, community inclusion, drug and alcohol addiction, trauma and more.
Turning Tides believes that everyone has the right to a home, regardless of the difficulties they may face in their lives. The work they undertake to empower homeless and insecurely housed individuals is vital. The aim for each person is that they are empowered to rebuild their life and secure a brighter future.
How are we helping?
Our team are sponsoring Turning Tides’ annual SleepOut – where volunteers swap their bed for a sleeping bag, and sleep out under the stars. This year’s event will be held at Worthing Fire Station on the night of Saturday 30 September 2023. The SleepOut is an event suitable for all ages. providing additional opportunities to tour the fire station, look at the engines and meet the firefighters. Other activities include a shelter-building competition, raffle, talks from those who have experienced homelessness, and the frontline key workers.
Franc who was supported by Turning Tides on his pathway out of homelessness says: “Turning Tides was my lifeline. They didn’t just give me a roof over my head; they helped me to rebuild myself, my dignity, and my life.”
