A Sweet Win for a Serious Cause: Gingerbread for Safe in Sussex
There are few things that bring a team together quite like friendly competition — especially when gingerbread and good causes are involved.
In December 2024, our Priavo team took part in the Safe in Sussex Gingerbread House Competition, a festive fundraiser that brings creativity and community spirit together. Armed with icing sugar, a few questionable architectural ideas, and plenty of determination, we set out to build something special — and to support a cause that’s close to our hearts.
Safe in Sussex’s annual competition isn’t just about confectionery bragging rights (though we’re proud to say we won!). It’s about raising awareness and funds to help families affected by domestic abuse — particularly during the winter months, when the need for refuge and outreach support often increases.
Throughout the event, we saw how the community rallied around the charity’s mission. Businesses, families, and local groups joined in, each decorating their gingerbread creations in their own unique style. Behind every house built in sugar and spice was a deeper message: everyone deserves a safe and stable home.
Our victory came with a generous donation to Safe in Sussex, helping fund their frontline services and educational outreach work. More importantly, it reinforced the power of collective effort — how something as simple as building a gingerbread house can spark conversations about safety, respect, and kindness.
For our team, the win was sweet — but the cause was sweeter still.
Summary:
The Gingerbread House Competition reminded us that even the lightest, most joyful activities can carry a message of hope. Behind the laughter and icing sugar, we were united by something much bigger — the belief that everyone deserves a safe place to call home.
