Building the Foundations: Turning Tides and a Partnership that Matters
Our partnership with Turning Tides began in 2017 — a year when we were looking not just to give back, but to connect with a cause that reflected our values as a team and a company. We found that in Turning Tides, a West Sussex charity supporting people experiencing homelessness and hardship across the region.
From the beginning, what struck us about Turning Tides was their philosophy: “We believe everyone has the right to a home, and that with the right support, anyone can find their way back to independence.” It’s a simple idea, but one that demands action, compassion and long-term commitment.
Our early involvement was practical — responding to monthly food requests, helping supply essentials, and donating furniture to help people moving into supported accommodation. Each delivery was a reminder that small comforts — a sofa, a table, a kettle — can mean stability, dignity and a sense of belonging.
We also began joining their fundraising events, including the annual Summer Sleep Out, which quickly became a fixture in our calendar. Lying under the stars for one night — a symbolic act that raises funds and awareness — gives participants a glimpse into the vulnerability that rough sleepers experience daily. It’s not easy, but it’s grounding.
Over time, these experiences became more than volunteer moments; they became part of our culture. Turning Tides’ mission resonated deeply with our team — a reminder that security, in its truest sense, begins with having a place to call home.
Summary:
From food drives to furniture donations, our early years with Turning Tides laid the foundation for something lasting. Real change doesn’t come from a single act of giving — it comes from showing up, again and again, with compassion and consistency.
