Comic Relief [Red Nose Day]

This year, we wanted to start off the our charity fundraising calendar by getting behind #rednoseday and the team have been working hard this week raise much needed funds.  Comic Relief  are supporting four main charities this year:

  • Children to Thrive | supporting more children to reach their full potential at school, reducing levels of poor nutrition, preventable diseases and incidents of violence.
  • Promote Positive Mental Health | quality support when needed and accessibility of support services.
  • Fight For Gender Equality | support women and girls to be safer, healthier, educated and independent, reducing incidents of gender-based violence.
  • Provide Safe Places to Live |  increase access to safe and secure shelter for refugees, strengthening community-led movements to ensure a safe route to settlement and shelter worldwide.

We believe strongly that everyone has a right to somewhere secure in which to live, feel safe and thrive.

The team has been making and baking for a homemade cake and coffee sale, we coordinated a recycled book and jewellery sale and have sold safety and security products in a bid to raise funds. We enlisted the help of other companies in our building – The NHS ‘Time to Talk’ and Orelia Jewellery got involved selling and buying products.

The great thing about comic relief is that a little bit can go a long way:

  • £10 covers the cost of 10 hot meals for a homeless person in the UK
  • £30 can help an isolated mum in the UK suffering from postnatal depression attend a group therapy session, to help discuss coping strategies and recover
  • £50 cover the cost of over 160 test to quickly diagnose Malaria
  • £100 pays to train a nurse in Uganda in maternal and newborn care, which will help save hundreds of mothers and babies lives.

Click here to donate money to Comic Relief, although there will be plenty of opportunities throughout the day with many fundraising activities continuing late into the evening.
