Walking with Purpose: An Italian Trek in Memory and Hope

Some journeys test endurance; others heal the heart. For Priavo’s Managing Director and Co-founder, Celine Murphy, her 2025 Italian Trek Challenge did both.

In early 2025, Celine and her mother set out on a sponsored walking challenge across Italy, raising funds and awareness for Rett UK — the charity that has supported countless families like theirs. It was not just a physical trek across beautiful landscapes, but an emotional pilgrimage of remembrance, gratitude, and purpose.

For Celine, the journey was deeply personal. Her sister, who lived with Rett Syndrome, passed away some years ago, but her memory remains a constant source of inspiration — both in life and in leadership. This trek, undertaken with her mother, was a way to honour that memory and give back to the community that once helped them through the most difficult times.

Over several days, the pair walked through Italy’s breathtaking countryside — from winding coastal paths to sunlit villages and rolling hills. Each step was symbolic: a tribute to her sister’s courage and the strength of families who continue to face the daily realities of Rett Syndrome. With every mile, they raised funds to help Rett UK provide critical services — from helplines and family support to advocacy, therapy programmes, and medical guidance.

Along the route, there was time for reflection — on family, on resilience, and on the quiet acts of kindness that define community. What began as a personal challenge became a collective journey of compassion. Messages of support poured in from friends, colleagues, and donors, moved by Celine’s story and her determination to turn loss into something lasting and good.

For those who know her, Celine’s leadership style has always been rooted in empathy and authenticity. This trek was a natural extension of that — a testament to how personal experiences can shape purpose-driven leadership. Her walk through Italy wasn’t about miles covered, but about moments remembered, and the ongoing impact of one life on many others.

The funds raised from the trek will go directly toward Rett UK’s support network — providing guidance and connection for families across the UK, and helping fund vital research into treatments and therapies. More importantly, it keeps the memory of those lost alive through action, care, and hope.

At Priavo, we’re proud to stand alongside Celine and her family in their continued support for Rett UK. Their journey reminds us that compassion and strength are not opposites — they are the same force, expressed in different ways.
