Travel Risk Report: Vietnam

Our Travel Risk Report for Vietnam notes that the country is generally safe. Crime is not a major risk in the country but is more likely to occur in urban areas such as Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. One common tactic used by criminals is to drive past on a motorcycle and snatch a bag or valuables from a pedestrian; petty theft is also often reported on public transport. Currently, Vietnam has negligible risks of terrorism, conflict and kidnapping, and demonstrations are not common. Medical facilities may be adequate in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and other larger towns and cities, but this is not the case in rural areas. We advise you check for recommended vaccines before you travel and due to risks posed by Zika virus, pregnant women should reconsider their need to travel to the country. Please be aware this Travel Risk Report is a brief overview and our advice would be to thoroughly research your destination prior to travel. Our travel risk department can provide country reports, travel risk summaries, advice and support to help mitigate risk further.
